Question: What do you think of the Fullmetal Alchemist ending?

I really like the Fullmetal Alchemist series, and I really like the ending as well.  I am curious to know why you ask.

Because that ending is a happy ending and the pairings are canon, especially Ed x Winry.

Point being?

The ending wasn't just a "happy ending"; all of the plot points immediately relevant to the arc of the entire story had been resolved; Ed succeeded in restoring Alphonse's body, and all character arcs reached their natural conclusions.

It is not one of those series where the characters feelings for each other were ever one-sided, nor ever in doubt.  We knew how Ed felt about Winry, and how Winry felt about Ed, and we know their feelings for each other were mutual.  More over, we saw a resolution to it all at the end of the day.

A "happy ending" isn't worth much if the story is never given a proper conclusion, nor are all the relevant character arcs or plot threads that were remaining at the end simply dropped.

“Remember the balance; the give-and-take of energy. The symbol of yin and yang is more than the integration of male and female. It’s also the balance of light and dark, soft and hard, active and passive, in and out, giver and receiver. You can’t have one without the other.”
